Since its V-day today, and the only person I have to love is me, I was thinking of special things that I have done for myself, and to be honest the best gift I gave myself was laser hair removal.

I grew up like most girls of north Indian descent, hairier than all other girls (and sometimes guys) around me.  I dreaded bathing suit season, and most of all changing in the gym locker.  I hated shaving, and waxing was too time consuming and not permanent, but the only solution at the time.   Along with waxing and shaving I was bleaching my face (please avoid bleaching if you can).  When I got to 27 I realized that my facial hair was just too much and looked into more permanent solutions.  My mother had done electrolysis, but it was not permanent the only other solution was laser hair removal.

I think it took me so many years to get here were two simple reasons: fear of the laser, and the extreme costs.   Over the years laser hair removal has become more accessible and affordable, however it is still costly.  I have now been doing it for 2 years, and yes I do think it is worth the money, and the results have been revolutionary for me (it does not work for everyone).  I started with my face and now am doing full body.

I am currently doing laser hair removal at Laser Cosmetica, however there are many places that offer this service so check it out.  Do your research beforehand (it can cause burns) and save up for it.  A little tip a good time to start is the fall, because laser is not suggested if you tan, so I generally take a hiatus during May to September.
