With the Cannes Film Festival happening it meant some major fashion.  Here are some of my favorite looks:

Carey Mulligan in this Balenciaga jumpsuit is sheer perfection!  So minimalist and so chic and on par with fashion trends.

There was no official picture of Sonam Kapoor in Elie Saab that went around, but from what was uploaded on twitter it was GORGEOUS!!!

Another Mumbai gal who looked spectacular was Freida Pinto in Gucci.  With her skin tone this dress looked unbelievable.

This look is actually not from Cannes, but I LOVED Kerry Washington in Lanvin, so elegant!

For the most part Vidya was slammed for her fashion sense, to be honest it didn’t bother me at all that she dressed how she is usually does.  She always wears Sabyasachi and thats what she did at Cannes… I liked this look the most, had a royal Indian feel to it!  To all those who don’t know this but she is an ACTRESS not a fashionista!

Solange Knowles is a personality with unique style, to me she rarely does wrong.  She carry’s everything so well, but this Stefane Rolland jumpsuit was FAB to another level!!

Kalki Koechlin in Sabyasachi

Last week’s post on gossip girl style influence had hinted at the return of the headbands and VOILA I see two different women in ensembles with headbands.  Above the picture is of Kalki Koechlin in Sabyasachi at a festival in Morocco.  Sabyasachi’s past runway show had loads of headbands with Indian wear.  If you have been attending Delhi Weddings, you would also see that embellished headbands are becoming a part of Indian fashionista’s closet.  While Sabyasachi paired his ethnic wear with the headbands, a designer duo from Italy paired them with dresses.

Dianna Agron in Dolce and Gabbana

Above is Dianna Agron in Dolce and Gabbana.  When I saw both these women this week, I realized that headbands have become an accessory fashionista’s all over the globe can style.  Both women wore very different outfits, but had the common embellished headband.  The question is will you be wearing one?  You know the answer for me is YES!

Kangana Ranaut wore another Sabysachi to another reception in Bollywood.  I of course loved the look because even though she wore the same designer, another lengha, and in a similar color palette she still managed to look different than her previous look.  I love it!!!!  Just one thing… the cleavage, a bit much, but maybe she wants to get hitched too!!

When I saw this bride on Highheelconfidential I thought wow perfection.  This bride looked lovely in her Sabyasachi Lengha, and her understated jewelry (for an Indian bride it is on the light side).  Her simple updo, and her classic makeup finished this look perfectly.  She is a classic example of a beautiful bride.  By the way this look is from her wedding reception.

As you can see the looks are mostly ethnic.  There was a lot of ethnic wear at this years Lakme Fashion Week.  For those who live in NY and are looking for some fusion looks similar to what was showcased at LFW, check out Misha Nicole in the Lower East Side.  The store has an amazing inventory from some great international designers such as Payal Singhal, Namrata Joshipura, Pankaj and Nidhi, and Yumi Kim.  Sorry I don’t have pictures from the store as they would not let me take pictures inside.
